DESCRIPTION
Small standby power sized to the load it actually carries
Most small-site buyers do not fail because the set is too weak. They fail because the rating was chosen from a brochure without checking the starting current of the load, then the set either stalls on a pump or runs so lightly that the cylinders glaze. A Yangdong-powered set in the 14 kW to 36 kW window is normally the right answer for a telecom cabinet, a farm pump, a workshop bench line or a construction site office, provided the configuration is matched to the duty.
We build the set around the load you describe: the engine rating, the alternator frame, the control panel and the enclosure are chosen together, and the drawings you receive describe the machine that was actually assembled rather than a generic family sheet.

Why this series is specified instead of a larger general-purpose set
- The rating tracks the real load. When the site peaks at 20 kW to 25 kW, a 14 kW to 36 kW set keeps its load factor in a usable band instead of idling at a fraction of capacity.
- Engine, alternator and base frame are matched before assembly. Coupling, feet and belt alignment are set for the specific pair, not for a family of machines.
- Two build forms from the same base machine. The same set is supplied on an open skid or inside a canopy, so a later change of site conditions does not change the spares list.
- Panel choice follows the operating routine. A manual panel suits an attended workshop; an ATS interface lets the set start on mains failure at an unattended cabinet site.
- Parts come from an established engine platform. Yangdong YD-series filters, injectors and gasket sets are widely stocked in Asia and Africa, so consumables can often be bought locally rather than shipped from the factory.
- Packing suits sea freight on small orders. Units leave in a wooden case with waterproof cloth, which is the practical protection for a single set travelling as loose cargo.
The factory behind this series
Jiangsu Qingzhiteng Power Equipment Co., Ltd manufactures in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, and builds both diesel and gas generator sets. The inland diesel range runs from 3 kVA to 3000 kVA and the marine range from 12 kW to 500 kW, which means the small Yangdong-powered set shares its assembly, wiring and test practice with the large machines rather than being bought in and re-badged. Sets with ATS, parallel operation, low-noise canopies and remote monitoring are all produced in the same plant, and units are exported to more than 80 countries across five continents.
Assembly and inspection sequence for a Yangdong-powered order
- Engine, alternator and radiator are received and checked against the order specification.
- Engine and alternator are coupled on the base frame; foot mounts and belt alignment are set.
- Fuel, coolant and exhaust piping are fitted, then pressure- and leak-checked.
- The control panel is wired and the harness is buzzed through against the panel drawing.
- The set is started and run on the test bench; governor, voltage and protection settings are checked.
- The canopy is fitted with the doors, lifting points and exhaust outlet; paint is touched up.
- The finished unit is packed in a wooden case with waterproof cloth and the packing list is issued with the shipping documents.
Similar duties already supplied
Rural telecom sites, Southeast Asia
Users needed a set small enough to sit beside a cabinet enclosure and start automatically on mains failure. Sets in the 14 kW to 25 kW window were configured with an ATS interface and canopy, so the cabinet stayed live through grid interruptions without a manned panel.
Agri-processing workshop, Africa
A workshop with a 15 kW to 20 kW motor-driven load wanted a simple manual-start set that could run on locally available filters. The open skid version was supplied, with the starting sequence documented for the operator.
Construction site offices, Middle East
Temporary site power for offices and lighting was requested in a transportable format. Canopy sets were supplied rather than open frames, mainly to keep the noise down at the site boundary.
Questions buyers ask before ordering this series
How do I choose between 14 kW and 36 kW?
Start from the connected load and the starting current of the largest motor, not from the nameplate of the building. Send the equipment list and we will confirm which engine model and alternator frame covers it, and where a soft start or a larger frame is needed.
Can the set start by itself when the mains fails?
Yes, when it is ordered with an automatic start panel and an ATS interface. The set then starts on a mains-failure signal and the changeover is handled by the transfer switch. Tell us whether the site is attended or unattended so the panel is specified accordingly.
Do you supply 60 Hz and non-standard voltages?
50 Hz at 1500 rpm is the standard build. 60 Hz at 1800 rpm and voltages such as 440 V are produced on request; state the destination country and the required voltage, phase and frequency when you enquire.
Is a silent canopy worth it on a 20 kW set?
It depends on how close the nearest neighbour or office window is. Canopy sets are commonly specified in the 65 to 75 dB(A) range at 7 m, while an open skid set is noticeably louder. If you tell us the acceptable level and the distance, we can confirm which canopy suits.
What about minimum quantity, lead time, packing and payment?
These follow from the configuration, the destination port and the order quantity, so they are stated in the quotation rather than fixed here. Provide the quantity, the port and the required voltage and we will quote on that basis.
For a broader view of what we build, see the full generator set range. If your site load is closer to 40 kW to 200 kW, the Yuchai-powered sets sit above this series, and where noise is the deciding factor compare the silent type sets.
Send the load, not just the kVA figure
Tell us the connected equipment, the largest motor, the required voltage, frequency and phase, whether an ATS or canopy is needed, the quantity and the destination port. Those details are enough to select the engine model and prepare a configuration sheet for your site.
