Volvo Series
Volvo-powered diesel generator sets from 80 kW to 500 kW for hotels, hospitals and data rooms, specified by duty rating rather than by output alone.

Fuel consumption and duty rating decide the real cost of a large set
On a 100 kW set working every day, the fuel bill and the service cost overtake the purchase price inside the first years of operation, and the first sign of a bad selection is a machine that was rated for standby but is being run continuously. Buyers of Volvo-powered sets are usually specifying for that longer horizon: a hotel, a hospital or a data room where the set has to run long hours and where voltage quality matters as much as output.
We assemble the engine with the alternator, panel and enclosure you need, and we will tell you which duty rating the intended use actually calls for before the order is placed.

| Alternator | Brushless, single-bearing, self-excited; make selected per configuration |
| Control panel | Automatic start panel with ATS interface; synchronising panel where parallel operation is required |
| Duty rating | Confirmed at order stage as standby or continuous, because it changes the engine variant |
| Fuel tank | Base-frame integral tank; capacity set by canopy size and required running hours |
| Enclosure | Open skid or canopy with lockable doors, lifting points and exhaust outlet |
| Sound level | Canopy units are commonly specified in the 65 to 75 dB(A) range at 7 m; confirm for the selected canopy |
| Dimensions and weight | Confirmed per model on the quotation |
| Packing | Strong wooden case with waterproof cloth |
| Typical duty | Hotels, hospitals, data rooms, commercial buildings, standby and prime-power installations |
What you are paying for in this series
- Duty rating is settled before the engine is chosen. Whether the set is standby or continuous changes the engine variant, so we confirm the duty first instead of quoting the same machine for both.
- Voltage stability is part of the specification. Hospitals, data rooms and lifts are sensitive to voltage excursion; the alternator frame and panel are selected with that load type in mind.
- Automatic operation suits unattended rooms. With an ATS interface the set starts on mains failure, so no operator needs to be present at the moment of transfer.
- Parallel operation is available for growing sites. Where the load may outgrow one machine, the synchronising panel can be ordered with the first set rather than retrofitted later.
- Enclosure matched to the installation point. Indoor plant rooms usually take the open skid; rooftop and boundary installations take a canopy.
- Export packing as standard practice. Sets are cased with waterproof cloth for sea freight, and the packing list is issued with the shipping documents.
Who assembles these sets
Jiangsu Qingzhiteng Power Equipment Co., Ltd manufactures in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, producing diesel and gas generator sets across a 3 kVA to 3000 kVA inland range and a 12 kW to 500 kW marine range. Alongside imported-engine sets, the works builds low-noise units, sets with ATS, parallel systems and remote monitoring configurations, and ships to more than 80 countries on five continents.
Build and test sequence for an imported-engine set
- The engine and alternator are received and checked against the duty and rating agreed in the order.
- Coupling and base-frame alignment are set with the mounting arrangement specified for this combination.
- Cooling, fuel and exhaust circuits are assembled and pressure-checked.
- The control and protection panel is wired, including the ATS interface or synchronising module where ordered.
- The unit is benched, started and run through its voltage, frequency and protection settings.
- Enclosure, lifting points and paint are finished.
- The set is cased for shipment with the packing list and document set.
Installations of a similar kind
Hotel and commercial building, Southeast Asia
The requirement was automatic standby for lifts, lighting and kitchen equipment during grid interruptions. Sets were supplied with an ATS interface so the changeover happens without an operator on site.
Data and communications room, Middle East
The buyer's concern was voltage quality rather than raw capacity. The alternator frame and panel were chosen for a load with electronics, and the duty was confirmed as standby before the engine variant was fixed.
Hospital standby, Africa
The installation needed long running hours when the grid was weak. The set was specified for the operating regime described by the buyer instead of being quoted as a short-duration standby machine.
Buyer questions on this series
How do I know whether I need a standby or a continuous rating?
Describe the running hours you expect per month and whether the set carries the whole load or only part of it. That determines the duty rating, and the rating determines which engine variant we specify. Quoting a standby machine for continuous use is the most common costly mistake in this size class.
Which voltages can be supplied?
400/230 V three-phase four-wire at 50 Hz is standard, and 440 V three-phase is available to order. Give the destination country and the supply arrangement and we will confirm the build.
Can the set work with my existing switchgear?
Yes, when the panel interface is agreed in advance. Tell us the changeover arrangement and the signal or contact your switchgear expects, and the panel will be specified to match it.
What enclosures are available for outdoor installation?
Canopy sets with lockable doors, lifting points and exhaust outlet are used for rooftop and boundary positions; open-frame sets are normally chosen for indoor plant rooms. Confirm the installation point at the enquiry stage.
How are MOQ, lead time, warranty and payment handled?
These depend on the rating, quantity, destination and payment method, so they are set out in the quotation. Send the quantity and the port and we will quote against your project.
For smaller installed loads, the SDEC series and the Yangdong series sit below this range, and the parallel synchronising control system is the option to examine if two or more machines will run together. The full product range lists the other engine platforms.
Confirm the duty rating before you order
Tell us the running hours you expect, whether the set carries the full load or part of it, the voltage, phase and frequency, whether an ATS or synchronising panel is needed, the quantity and the destination port. With those details we can fix the engine variant and quote the correct configuration.
