Urban construction budgets pay by the square meter. On tight city plots, basement retrofits, and high-density industrial parks, a generator that takes up less ground while delivering full rated output is worth the spec conversation. This Cummins open type genset — built around proven models including the KTAA19-G6A at 625KVA — is sized and configured specifically for projects where the generator room or laydown area is the first thing sacrificed in the site plan. We have supplied this configuration to urban infrastructure contractors across Southeast Asia and the Gulf — metro construction staging areas, mixed-use development sites, and substation upgrade projects where the incoming power was cut during civil works. Monthly shipments average 500+ units from our Yangzhou plant; the 625KVA rating typically leaves within 10 days of order confirmation. Open frame keeps the footprint to the absolute minimum — no canopy adds length or width. The unit sits on a heavy-duty steel base with forklift pockets, so it relocates between floors or site zones without a crane. ATS for seamless mains-to-generator transfer, parallel sync for multi-unit urban power stations, and compact external day tanks that mount beside the base rather than below it are all available at order stage.

Cummins Open Type Diesel Generator Set for Space-Constrained Urban & Land-Scarce Sites

Cummins engine. Open frame. Minimum footprint, full rated output. Built for urban construction sites, basement plant rooms, high-density industrial parks, and retrofit projects where generator space is tight. Typical rating: 625KVA (KTAA19-G6A). Full range: 10KW–2000KW. 50Hz and 60Hz. Ships from Yangzhou within 7–15 days for stocked ratings.

What Makes This Configuration Different

FeatureWhat It Means on Site
Open frame — no canopyRemoves 300–600mm from overall length compared to a silenced unit at the same KVA. Fits where canopied units cannot.
Forklift pockets in base frameRelocate between site zones, floors, or buildings without crane hire. Standard pocket spacing fits a 3-tonne counterbalance forklift.
Side-mount day tank optionTank mounts alongside rather than below — plant room ceiling height is preserved. Useful in basement generator rooms with structural constraints.
High power-to-footprint ratio625KVA KTAA19-G6A occupies approximately 3.6m × 1.5m. Equivalent silent unit would require 4.4m × 2.0m minimum.
Parallel sync readyTwo or more units can run in parallel to scale output without increasing individual generator footprint. Common for urban power station builds where space prevents a single large unit.

Site-Specific Questions

My plant room has a 2.1m ceiling. Can the 625KVA unit fit?

The standard open type 625KVA stands approximately 2.0m tall. With standard exhaust elbow the stack adds further height — we can supply a low-profile exhaust routing or horizontal exit to keep within your headroom. Send us the room drawings and we will confirm the fit.

Can I run two 625KVA units in parallel instead of one 1250KVA unit?

Yes — parallel sync is available as a factory-fitted option. Two 625KVA units in parallel take up roughly 7.5m × 1.5m against a single 1250KVA which would need approximately 6.5m × 2.5m plus access clearance. In tight rooms the parallel approach often wins on practical layout.

How do I get the unit into a basement with a 2.8m ramp width?

The open type frame width on the 625KVA is 1.5m, so the unit passes a 2.8m ramp with room to spare using a telehandler or forklift. If ramp height is the constraint, we can split the delivery — base frame and genset separately — and assemble on site. This is a common request for retrofit projects.

What is the lead time and how are large units shipped?

625KVA and below: 7–15 days. Above 625KVA: 20–30 days. Units ship by flat-rack or open-top container depending on height. We handle export documentation, packing list, and can coordinate with your freight forwarder on port-of-arrival requirements.
